How Much Is a Bootcamp Class in London?

October 23, 2026•6 min read

If you're a parent in North London trying to get fit again, one of the first questions is simple: how much is a bootcamp class, and is it actually better value than a gym membership or a personal trainer? I've been a personal trainer in Archway for over 10 years, and I get asked this a lot. So here is an honest breakdown of what you can expect to pay in London, and what you actually get for your money.

I'll be upfront: I run SYP Bootcamp, so I'm not neutral. But I've also run 1-1 personal training for years, and I'll tell you plainly when each option makes sense.

How much is a bootcamp class in London?

Bootcamp prices in London vary a lot depending on whether the class is outdoors in a park or indoors, how big the group is, and whether you pay per class or sign up to a monthly package. Big outdoor groups with 20 or 30 people tend to sit at the cheaper end. Small, coached indoor groups usually cost more per session, because the coach can actually watch each person.

At SYP Bootcamp, a class is £15. That gets you:

  • A 45-minute session, start to finish

  • A maximum of 10 people in the room, so I can see and correct everyone

  • An indoor hall in Archway, N19, so the weather doesn't decide whether you train

  • A session that works for all fitness levels, including complete beginners

  • No contract and no joining fee

You can book a £15 class on the booking page and see this week's class times there.

Bootcamp vs gym vs personal trainer: what you pay

Here is how the three options compare on cost, using published figures where I could find them.

Gym membership

According to the Leisure DB 2025 State of the UK Fitness Industry Report, as summarised by The Fitness Group, London has the highest regional average for gym memberships at around £75 a month. You can find cheaper budget gyms, and premium clubs cost far more.

The catch with a gym is not the price. It's that you pay whether you go or not, and when you do go, nobody is telling you what to do. For a tired parent with 45 minutes to spare, walking into a gym without a plan often means wandering between machines and leaving unsure if it did anything.

Personal training

Personal training is the most tailored option, and the most expensive. A 2023 guide from The London Economic put a London PT session at roughly £50 to £150 or more, depending on the trainer and location. Twice a week, that adds up quickly.

It's worth every penny for some people, especially if you have a specific goal, an injury history or you want a programme built entirely around you. But it's a big commitment if you're just trying to get moving again.

Small-group bootcamp

A small-group class sits in the middle. You get a coach, a plan and people around you, but the cost is shared. At £15 a session, two classes a week works out at around £120 a month, which is in the same ballpark as some gym memberships, but every session is coached.

Why £15 for a 10-person coached class is good value

When people ask me whether a bootcamp is worth it, I think the better question is: what are you actually paying for?

  • You're paying for a plan. You turn up, and the session is already designed. No thinking, no guesswork.

  • You're paying for coaching. With 10 people max, I can correct your squat, adjust a move for your knees or push you a bit harder when you're ready. In a big group, that just doesn't happen.

  • You're paying for accountability. When you've booked a spot and people expect to see you, you're far more likely to show up.

  • You only pay when you go. No monthly direct debit quietly leaving your account while you're too busy to train.

For parents, that last point matters. Some weeks you'll manage two classes. Some weeks a child is ill and you manage none. Paying per class means you're not punished for real life.

If you want a deeper look at whether this style of training suits you, I've written about whether fitness bootcamps are worth it.

How to get the most out of what you spend

Whatever you choose, the best value is the option you'll actually keep doing. A few practical tips:

  • Be realistic about frequency. Two sessions a week that you keep doing beats five that you abandon after a fortnight. I've covered this in is two classes a week enough.

  • Check what's included. Ask about group size, session length and whether the coach adapts moves for beginners.

  • Avoid long contracts at the start. Try a class first and see if you like the coach and the atmosphere.

  • Think about the weather. Outdoor sessions in a North London winter are a real test. Indoors means fewer excuses.

  • Look at travel time. A class 10 minutes from home in Archway, Highgate, Tufnell Park or Upper Holloway is much easier to stick with than one across town.

For context, the NHS physical activity guidelines recommend adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, plus strengthening activities on at least 2 days a week. A couple of 45-minute strength-based classes is a solid way to cover the strength part, and you can add walks with the kids for the rest.

Where SYP Bootcamp fits

I set up SYP Bootcamp for busy mums and dads in Archway and the surrounding areas, including Highgate, Holloway, Crouch End and Kentish Town. It's meant to be the easy first step: affordable, coached, beginner friendly and done in 45 minutes.

If later on you want a fully tailored plan, I also offer 1-1 personal training at SYP Fitness. But most people don't need to start there. Starting with a class is usually enough to build the habit.

FAQs

How much is a bootcamp class at SYP Bootcamp?

Each class is £15. There is no joining fee and no contract. You pay per class and book your place on the booking page.

Is a bootcamp cheaper than a gym?

Per month, it can be similar or a bit more, depending on how often you come. The difference is that every bootcamp session is coached and planned for you, and you only pay for the sessions you attend.

Is a bootcamp as good as personal training?

It's different. Personal training is fully tailored to you. A small-group bootcamp gives you coaching, structure and accountability at a lower cost. For most beginners, a small group is a great place to start.

I have an old injury or back pain. Can I still join?

Please check with your GP or physio first. Once you have the go-ahead, let me know before class and I'll adapt the moves for you.

Book your first class

If you've been putting off getting fit because you weren't sure what it would cost or where to start, try one class. It's £15, 45 minutes, indoors in Archway, with no more than 10 people.
